Privacy Policy

This privacy notice for the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD) Uganda describes how and why we might collect, store, use and/or share your information when you use our Services.

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the Services, express an interest in obtaining information about us or our products and Services, when you participate in activities on the Services, or otherwise when you contact us.

The personal information that we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and the Services, the choices you make, and the products and features you use. This may include:

  • Names
  • Phone numbers
  • Email addresses
  • Usernames
  • Passwords
  • National identification numbers

When necessary, with your consent or as otherwise permitted by applicable law, we may also process sensitive information, including government identifiers, information revealing race or ethnic origin, information about a person's sex life or sexual orientation, and financial data.

If you use our applications, we may also request permission to access geolocation information for location-based services, security, troubleshooting, analytics and reporting purposes.

Some information is collected automatically when you visit, use or navigate the Services. This may include IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, device information, usage information and location data.

2. How Do We Process Your Information?

In Short: We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law.

We may process your information to:

  • Facilitate account creation and authentication and otherwise manage user accounts.
  • Deliver and facilitate delivery of services to the user.
  • Send administrative information about our Services, terms and policies.
  • Evaluate and improve our Services, products, marketing and user experience.
  • Support periodical reporting of progress on agreed targets.
3. When and With Whom Do We Share Your Personal Information?

In Short: We may share information in specific situations described in this section and/or with specific third parties.

We may share or transfer information in connection with business transfers or other circumstances described in this Privacy Policy.

Where Google Maps Platform APIs are used, information may be shared with the relevant Google Maps Platform APIs to retrieve information when location-specific requests are made.

4. Do We Use Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies?

In Short: We may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect and store your information.

We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies, such as web beacons and pixels, to access or store information.

5. How Do We Handle Your Social Logins?

In Short: If you choose to register or log in to our Services using a social media account, we may have access to certain information about you.

Where the Services allow registration or login using a third-party social media account, we may receive profile information from the relevant social media provider.

We use this information only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or otherwise made clear to you through the relevant Services.

6. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

In Short: We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless otherwise required by law.

When we have no ongoing legitimate need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize the information or, where this is not possible, securely store and isolate it from further processing until deletion is possible.

7. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?

In Short: We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organizational and technical security measures.

We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of personal information we process.

However, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

8. Do We Collect Information From Minors?

In Short: We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age.

We do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under 18 years of age. If we learn that personal information from users under 18 has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records.

9. What Are Your Privacy Rights?

In Short: You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time.

If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time, subject to applicable law.

You may review or change information in your account through your account settings or contact the systems administrator for additional assistance.

10. Controls for Do-Not-Track Features

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and applications include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature or setting. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized.

We therefore do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or other mechanisms that automatically communicate your choice not to be tracked online.

11. Do We Make Updates to This Notice?

In Short: Yes, we will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant with relevant laws.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated revision date and will be effective as soon as it is accessible.
